Pasifika Youth Workers Collective
Who is a Pasifika Youth worker?
Anyone who identifies as a Pacific Islander/Pasifika, has a heart and passion for our youth and is currently working with our young people. This could be through your work role, sports club, cultural and arts space, church or youth groups.
Why the collective?
The world we are living in today is quickly evolving and we need to remain relevant and ahead of our game to better support our young people. In the 21st century, our young Pasifika people are more than ever being adversely affected by an array of challenges and issues - we need to sharpen up with intent and strategy.
We can’t go at it alone but with your help we can move stronger together.
What does the collective look like?
Passionate and relentless people
Buzzing talanoa/conversations
Recognising our strengths
Appreciating our differences
Environment of learning and support
Fun with food
How does it work?
The collective is a dedicated time and space for all Pasifika youth workers to come together.
Our bi-monthly – quarterly meetings aim to:
Keep up with our socio-political-economic climate that will impact our young people
Keep up with the latest research to help support and address our key issues
Understand our landscape and the diaspora of Pasifika communities better
Ignite and innovate projects, programs, events and platforms
Provide a place to learn, grow and think differently
Provide a place of refuge and alofa (love)
